Steven Soderbergh's 'Knockout' Enlists Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor And Dennis Quaid

How do you take down a highly trained soldier, freshly double-crossed with nothing left to lose? If you're Steven Soderbergh, you hire a quartet of high profile actors to do the job for you.

According to The Playlist, Soderbergh has enlisted the services of Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor and Dennis Quaid for "Knockout," the spy-centric action movie that stars mixed martial artist Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, a super spy trying to clear her own name.

In addition to these names, there is a fifth actor that is not yet fully official. The Playlist reports that they have been "asked not to say who because it's not 100% confirmed, but the actor is male and a fairly big name; it's possible scheduling conflicts may prevent him from participating."

Douglas will play a government official, a role that's described as similar to the Chris Cooper and Brian Cox roles in previous installments of the "Bourne" franchise. Fassbender and the unnamed actor play members of Kane's black-ops unit, one of whom betrays her and becomes the film's central antagonist. McGregor's character is the owner and operator of the private military group that Kane is a member of. Quaid's role is currently unspecified.

Clearly, Soderbergh is enlisting a top notch cast that gives other recent ensemble line-ups like "Machete" and "The Expendables" a run for their money. If it turns out that Danny Trejo is the aforementioned unnamed actor, then you can bet your bottom dollar that "Knockout" is going to be amazing. Even without Trejo, Soderbergh's latest is shaping up to be a fun film.
