Guy Ritchie in frame as Bond director after The Man From U.N.C.L.E success The director has apparently caught the eye of those behind the 007 franchise after Sam Mendes admitted he was out of ideas
Guy Ritchie could take over from Sam Mendes as James Bond director – after impressing 007 producers with spy flick The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Sam confirmed he expects to stand down after SPECTRE and I’m told movie bosses think Guy could bring an interesting new approach to the franchise.
Insiders say execs loved U.N.C.L.E, starring Henry Cavill and based on the TV series created by Bond writer Ian Fleming.
Guy and Bond actor Daniel Craig are believed to be friends too, which could work very much in Guy’s favour .

A source said: “Guy has had a run of box office successes but it was The Man From U.N.C.L.E that really caught the Bond producers’ eye.

Star and producer: Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes have worked together for two films
“The film had many of the elements associated with 007. Guy created a world of espionage and action with a bit of comedy. He’s the frontrunner for the next Bond movie – for now.”
After Skyfall and Spectre, Sam feels he probably doesn’t have a third in him.
He said: “I said no to the last one and ended up doing it. I was pilloried by all my friends. I don’t think I could go down that road again. You have to put everything else on hold.
"Every idea I had for a Bond film, I’ve stuck in this one. The Bond bank is dry.”
It’s predicted SPECTRE will rake in nearly £600million, making it the second most successful Bond film – after SkyFall.
Big shoes to fill, Guy, but if anyone can do it, you can.
