John M. Miranda (27 May 1926 – 3 February 2015; age 88) was the actor who played one of the two garbagemen in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
Miranda also acted in films such as Bloodthirsty Butchers (1970), Seed of Innocence (1980, with Vincent Schiavelli, Julianna McCarthy, and Tony Plana), Mischief (1985, with Graham Jarvis and Terry O'Quinn), Shattered Spirits (1986), Joe Dante's Innerspace (1987, with Robert Picardo, Wendy Schaal, William Schallert, Henry Gibson, Mark L. Taylor, Dick Miller, Kenneth Tobey, Andrea Martin, Grainger Hines, and Richard McGonagle), and Rescue Me (1993, with William Lucking, Rick Fitts, Eric Norris, Eddie Braun, and Dennis Madalone).
Miranda guest-starred in television series such as Three's Company (1979), Happy Days (1980), Little House on the Prairie (1979 and 1982), Knots Landing (1985, with Barry Wiggins), Murder She Wrote (1985, with Alice Krige, George Murdock, and Tricia O'Neil), ALF (1987), St. Elsewhere (1988), Free Spirit (1990, with Franc Luz), and Life with Roger (1997, starring Hallie Todd).
Miranda passed away at his home on 3 February 2015 at the age of 88.
