Der Charakter:Parker Williams ist neben Bubba Skinner der einzigste Charakter der Serie, der in allen Folgen der Serie dabei war. Parker fing als Sergeant an, arbeitete sich dann zum Corporal hoch. Parker ist ein liebenswerter und leicht schusseliger Typ, der als Erwachsener noch immer bei seiner Mutter lebt und auch leichte Probleme hat, Frauen kennenzulernen. In seinem Job geht Parker jedoch ganz in sich auf.
Der Schauspieler:David Hart (born February 6, 1954 in Marianna, Florida) is an actor best known for his portrayal of Sgt. Parker Williams on the smash-hit television series In the Heat of the Night. He also appeared in numerous commercials including IHop Restaurants, Maxwell House Coffee, Coors Light Silver Bullets, John Deere, and GE. In addition, David has appeared in numerous films and continues to perform in theater around the country, most recently performing as Charlemagne in Pippin and Oscar in The Odd Couple.
Hart was raised by his mother, Jeanette Lassiter Anderson, in Panama City, Florida. His father Lloyd Hart. Jr. encouraged him to attend Chipola Jr. College (now Chipola College), where he received an acting scholarship, after seeing him perform in the play, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown at Rutherford High School in Panama City, Florida. Both his parents encouraged him to peruse acting as a professional career. He is married to Anne Tabor and has three children, one of whom is actress and comedian, Mamrie Hart. Anne Tabor, a former Co-Producer of post production in television, she is currently a Master of Divinity student at Unity Institute in Missouri and is on the ministerial path. Hart has donated his time to various charitable organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Raised Episcopalian, Hart is also a member of the Unity Church.
Hart recorded the song "Let it Snow" for the 1991 In the Heat of the Night Christmas CD Christmas Time's A Comin'. He was joined on the recording by A-team Nashville studio pianist Hargus "Pig" Robbins. The song was produced by co-stars Randall Franks and Alan Autry.
