Bruce Fairbairn was born in 19 February 1947 in upstate New York. At ten he moved with his mother and sister to California and has looked like a native Californian ever since. After high school, Bruce served a short stint in the Marine Corps and then began studying drama at UCLA. It was during this time that Bruce decided that acting would definitely be his "thing" for life, although he did spend his summer vacation as a Peace Corps volunteer. After his studies at UCLA, Bruce began working in traveling acting companies, off-Broadway plays, Shakespeare Studio groups and appeared on such daytime "soapers" such as Another world, As the world turns and Love is a many splendored thing. Like so many young performers he earned money between acting jobs doing a variety of odd jobs. In Fairbairn's case, only three weeks before being signed to portray Chris Owens in The Rookies in 1974, he was tending bar and waiting tables in a New York restaurant. Prior to that he had been a parking lot attendant, sold advertising space for a Greek newspaper, washed dishes and sold balloons.
It was an episode of Police Story that brought Fairbairn to the attention of Leonard Goldberg, one of the executive producers of The Rookies, who at the time was searching for a replacement to fill the vacancy of Ontkean's departure. He passed the screen test and the 6-foot-1 blue eyed and red haired Bruce Fairbairn finally replaced Ontkean in 1974. After The Rookies he appeared in the campy 1979 film Vampire Hookers with John Carradine, the 1987 sci-fi actioner Cyclone and other TV series.
He also made a guest appearance in the Charlie's Angels episode Angel Baby.
Aside from that Bruce Fairbairn landed recurring roles in several TV shows; first on Knots Landing as Ray Geary and then as Sheldon Ganz in the popular lawyer drama L.A. Law. His last appearance was in 1989 in the made-for-TV movie Do you know the muffin man?, a courtroom drama about sexual abuse supposedly inspired by the McMartin case.
He stopped acting since then and not much is know about him.

WTF  totlachen)
