"Deadly Relations" is a fact-based true story that chronicles the life of Leonard Fagot and Carol Fagot Donahue. The movie first aired in 1993 on ABC as a Saturday night movie of the week. The movie now airs on Lifetime Movie Network. It is based on the book "Deadly Relations: A True Story of Murder in a Suburban Family, according to Variety.
"Deadly Relations" is about an ex-marine who is abusive and overprotective of his daughters. In the movie and in the real story, he kills those close to him for the insurance money.
The real events happened in the 1960's and 1970's in Louisiana. According to those who knew the real Leonard Fagot, he was a man with shifty-evil eyes. Fagot was a Pearl Harbor survivor and decorated marine who was a dangerous man and possessive father.
Leonard Fagot placed high values on family but murdered at least two family members for the insurance benefits. He was also a serial cheater, according to his daughters.
His 1977 trial was a said to be the trial of the century in his local town. Leonard Fagot was eventually convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. While out on bail in 1978, he was found dead in the back of a car at a motel.
His daughter Carol Fagot aka Carol Donahue, wrote a book about her ordeal. She passed away in 2009.
